teak garden set

I read it in high school, don’t remember much about it, just random details. Here’s what I remember:

*It was either written or set in the 1950’s, in Florida
*There was a nuclear attack, and a small family survived and had to survive with what they had
*They had a teak chest filled with emergency rations
*A few neighbors survived, one of whom had a Model T
*They gardened and hunted armadillos for food
*They had a small dog named Grog or Grunt, something with a G

I know that’s not much information, but it’s pretty much all I remember. I appreciate any help in finding the name or author of this book.
